SAT/ACT Preparation
A competitive SAT or ACT score is imperative for admission to the nation’s top universities and colleges. In order to succeed at standardized testing, students need to learn not just the subject material tested, but also how to approach the exam. ICG prepares students for the types of questions asked by the SAT and teaches proven strategies that will raise scores. Our tutors possess expert knowledge of the new SAT format and how it has affected grading by the College Board.

SSAT/ISEE Preparation
ICG has instructors that have educational expertise in elementary and middle school pedagogy. Because either the SSAT or the ISEE is taken by upper elementary or middle school students for admittance into prep school, ICG focuses on teaching its SSAT/ISEE students with developmentally appropriate methods that meet the pedagogical needs of younger students.

GRE/GMAT/LSAT/MCAT
Preparation These graduate school admissions exams require highly specific knowledge and test taking skills because each exam include questions that are not seen in any other setting. ICG delivers sharply focused instruction to individual students, employing test preparation strategies that have proven to be highly effective.  Just as with all of our other standardized test preparation training, our graduate school test preparation is differentiated and customized to meet the individual needs of our valued students.

College Essay Workshop The personal essay section of college applications presents a wonderful opportunity for students to showcase their individuality, assets and positive attributes. This is the decisive chance for a student to truly set him or herself apart from the rest of the applicant pool.  We have found that for most students, working on these essays in a workshop setting is highly effective, as it creates opportunities for students to analyze their own essays with the guidance and perspective of several tutors and peers. These workshops are guided by highly trained tutors who have extensive experience in creative writing and degrees in the field.

Mock Testing
Standardized tests are as much a test of stamina as they are of strategies and knowledge. Practice exams are offered at our Madison Avenue location on a regular basis. These exams are designed to simulate a real testing environment. For more information and to register, visit our mock testing page.

Academic Subjects
Ivy Consulting Group offers private tutoring in all academic subjects for grades K through college. Whether your student’s need is in math, chemistry, French, or essay writing, Ivy Consulting Group will match him/her with an appropriate tutor. This matching process not only involves choosing a tutor who is accomplished in the subject area, but also considers a student’s personality and learning style. Our tutors are also mentors who teach lessons that extend beyond the classroom. We carefully hire teachers that have shown years of accomplishment in multiple disciplines. This way, even if a student’s academic need changes, he or she can maintain a lasting connection with the same tutor.

College Admissions
One of the most important decisions that a high school student will make is the choice of where to attend college. As recent graduates of the nation’s top universities, our teachers play an important mentoring role in this process. We offer guidance on which schools best fit the student, how to write an effective personal statement, and how to most effectively showcase abilities and talents in a college admissions package.
